Florida Registered Homemaker & Companion Services Provider Startup Package

This package is designed for a Florida Homemaker and Companion Services Provider registering with the Florida Agency for Health Care Administration (AHCA).

Applicants should also verify local zoning, lease, deed-restriction, and homeowners-association requirements.

AHCA states that current Florida law does not require liability insurance for this registration. Insurance may still be advisable for business protection or required by a contract, landlord, referral source, or other party.

Permitted services can include companionship, light housekeeping, laundry, meal preparation, shopping, errands, transportation, and similar nonmedical assistance that does not involve hands-on personal care.

The registration does not authorize hands-on personal care, including bathing, dressing, grooming, toileting, feeding, transferring, skin care, or assistance with self-administered medications. It also does not authorize nursing or other home health services.

Yes. AHCA states that the name may not imply that the business provides home health, personal care, nursing, medical, assisted-living, or other services beyond the scope of Homemaker and Companion Services registration.
